I'm turning 50.

And while some people see that as getting older, I'm starting to see it differently.

In this episode of The Men of the House Podcast, I reflect on what it means to reach this milestone and the perspective that comes with it. Like most people, I've spent time wondering how life might have turned out if I had made different choices, taken different jobs, moved to different places, or followed different paths.

The truth is, none of us really know.

Maybe the path we're on is exactly where we're supposed to be.

Maybe the universe, God, fate, or whatever you choose to call it has been guiding us all along.

As I approach 50, I'm reminded that if I live to the average lifespan, I may already be two-thirds of the way through this journey. If I make it to 100, maybe I'm only halfway there.

Either way, one thing has become crystal clear:

Life is too short to spend it worrying about what other people think.

This conversation also builds on something I've been reflecting on lately—the importance of slowing down and being present.

We're constantly chasing the next goal, the next opportunity, the next version of ourselves. But what if the best years of our lives aren't somewhere in the future? What if they're happening right now?

In this episode, I share:

  • My honest thoughts about turning 50
  • Why we often romanticize the lives we didn't live
  • The freedom that comes from caring less about outside opinions
  • Why being present matters more than ever
  • How perspective changes as we age
  • Learning to say "yes" to joy and "no" to everything else
  • Why time may be our most valuable asset

The older I get, the less interested I am in impressing people and the more interested I am in experiencing life.

Traveling.

Creating.

Connecting.

Laughing.

Being present with the people I love.

And saying yes to the things that genuinely bring me joy.

Because none of us know how much time we have left.

But we do get to decide how we spend the time we have.
